Recently, the training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel as the highest level of the educational system has begun to acquire significantly different scales and goals: today not only scientific and educational institutions, but also the service sector, as well as knowledge-intensive industries that determine success, need specialists of the highest scientific qualifications development of an innovative economy. In the Republic of Uzbekistan, the training of scientific, scientific and pedagogical personnel – Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctors of Science (DSc) is carried out through doctoral studies, basic doctoral studies and independent competition.

Scientific Councils for awarding academic degrees are an important link in the system of certification of highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel. Currently, the Institute of Immunology and Human Genomics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan has a Scientific Council (DSc.02/30.12.2019.Tib.50.01) for awarding the scientific degrees PhD and DSc. The Scientific Council provides the most favorable conditions for defending dissertations and provides qualified assistance to applicants on the preparation and maintenance of materials. The Scientific Council has established itself as a highly professional and demanding body that conducts objective, conscientious and impartial scientific examination of dissertations. The Scientific Council makes a significant contribution to the training of highly qualified personnel in the Republic of Uzbekistan. In the scientific council operating at the Institute of Immunology and Human Genomics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, not only doctoral students, independent applicants and employees of the Institute defend their dissertations, but also applicants for academic degrees from other universities and scientific organizations of Uzbekistan.

Formed at the Institute of Immunology and Human Genomics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Scientific Council DSc.02/30.12.2019.Tib.50.01 from the beginning of its activities has conducted 52 defenses of dissertation research, of which 34 for the PhD degree and 18 for the DSc degree.
